CNA Training Structure

Classroom Learning

The City College CNA program covers essential concepts and practices in basic skills for Nursing Assistants. The curriculum includes basic medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, and understanding the aging process. Students will gain comprehensive knowledge about addressing the needs of chronically ill residents and developing the skills required for patient care.

Clinical Experience

The program includes hands-on clinical experience that allows students to apply classroom knowledge in real healthcare settings. Students will develop practical nursing assistant skills under supervision. The program also includes BLS (Basic Life Support) training, which is required prior to the clinical experience.

Exam Preparation

The CNA program prepares students for the CNA Certification Exam, which is administered at the end of the course. The $97 exam fee is not included in the initial program cost but is listed as one of the additional requirements after acceptance.

Admission Requirements

  • Criminal Background Check required ($56.00)
  • Urine Drug Testing required ($30.00)
  • Proof of Immunizations (MMR, Tetanus/Diphtheria, Hepatitis B series, COVID-19 prior to clinical portion)
  • TB testing (within the last year, two-step if never done or not within last year)
  • American Heart Association CPR certification (can be completed during the program for $60.00)

Tuition & Financial Aid Information

The base cost of the CNA program is $750, with several additional required fees:

  • Criminal Background Check: $56.00
  • Urine Drug Testing: $30.00
  • American Heart Association CPR (if needed): $60.00
  • Name Badge: $5.00
  • CNA Certification Exam Fee: $97.00

Students will also need to purchase:

  • Uniform (Scrubs – any solid color)
  • Textbook (provided in class)
