CNA Training Structure

  • Classroom Learning
    The program presents basic nursing assistant principles and skills with an emphasis on care of the elderly client.   • Clinical Experience

    • Must have proof of current TB test (less than one year old) prior to the start of class
    • Must have proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or proof of immunity prior to the start of class
    • Recommended to have current tetanus shot (less than 10 years) and have begun the Hepatitis B series prior to clinical
  • For High School Students:
    • Must be in 11th or 12th grade
    • Must be at least 16 years of age prior to the end of the semester
    • Same health requirements as adult students
  • Background Check:
    • Background check form must be completed upon registration before class begins

CNA Class Schedule & Flexibility

The Carbon County Higher Education Center offers CNA classes for both high school students and adults:

  • High School Program:
    • Two-period block class, one semester
    • Offered during both fall and spring semesters
    • Students must be 16 years of age prior to the end of the semester
  • Adult Program:
    • Fall 2025 class runs from October 13 – December 14
    • Includes online, in-class, and clinical time
